- Abstract
The author reports on the popularity of sales finance subsidiaries. The differences which exist in the various types of sales finance subsidiaries, including pure captives, mixed captives and limited captives are discussed. The origins of captives are mentioned, as is the advantages which they offer in regards to a company's sales and financing. Difficulties which are being faced by captives regarding the role which they will play in the future are mentioned, including competition and an over extension of credit.
