- Abstract
The article offers information regarding the music in Dominica. Topics discussed include the history of the country in 1763 which relates to its colonization by Spain, the impact of British and French cultures and traditions in the country, and several musical styles in Dominica such as quadrille and calypso. Also mentioned are several musical instruments including tanbu bass drum, jing-ping accordion, and shiyak scraper and composers such as Lemuel McPherson Christian.
