- Abstract
The article discusses the history of Baroque art, modernization, and official cinematography in Spain during the era of dictator Francisco Franco, who ruled the country until his death in 1975. Also cited are the claim by artist Javier Portús on the global introduction of the concept of Spanish painting in the nineteenth century, some Spanish artists during the era like Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, and the book "Du Baroque," by Eugenio d'Ors.
