- Abstract
This study aimed to assess the knowledge of nurses from Basic Health Units (UBS) and Emergency Care Units (UPA) about the care with risk classification for patients with suspected dengue. Cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, carried out in 9 UBSs and 3 UPAs in the city of São Carlos, with 26 nurses participating. Data collection was through a self-answered instrument, adapted from Esashika (2012). Data analysis was through descriptive statistics. Among the results obtained, 88% (24) of the participants perform risk classification of suspected dengue patients; 77% (20) do not follow a hydration protocol; and, 46% (12) responded that health units are able to keep patients with alarm signs under observation for up to 12 hours. Nurses have knowledge about risk classification, however, the approaches differ, not following standardized protocols.
