- Abstract
The debate between psychoanalysis and art has taken the relation between artistic subjects and the concept of sublimation as a paradigm. This research aims to broaden the discussion in order to avoid the identity between art creation and sublimatory process. To do so, there is an attempt to systematize how the sublimatory vicissitude develops, defining more specifically the concept and thus limiting its utilization when working with art. The freudian writings were the main source whence the elaborations were reaped. Those were initiated with basic notions regarding the instincts (Trieb) and their organizing processes side by side with the structuring of the ego and superego, until an argumentation about the influence of identification and idealization on the sublimation accomplished after a framework of those concepts' development. The partial results extracted from that include the outline of how the idealization can promote the sublimatory work, as well as a hypothesis about a primary sublimation, model for those after it.
