- Authors
Flores, Alfredo
- Abstract
The article reports on the research by Alan Meerow, a plant geneticist at the Subtropical Horticulture Research Station in Miami, Florida, on Polygala myrtifolia, the evergreen shrub known as cape milkwort. Meerow has worked together with the Agricultural Research Service horticulturist Tomas Ayala-Silva to add Polygala myrtifolia to the National Plant Germplasm System collection and develop it for distribution to commercial growers. Polygala myrtifolia can be described as having small clusters of inch-long blossoms at the ends of short branches. Polygala myrtifolia varies in form as it adapts to different areas in South Africa.
