- Title
C&K Forecasts 4% Increase In Dye Consumption For '75.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the forecast by David S. Alcorn, president of the dyes and chemicals division of Crompton & Knowles Corp., regarding the consumption of textile dyes in the U.S. in 1975. Alcorn states that the U.S. consumption of dyes will increase in the second half of 1975, that will result in a 4% rise as compared to 1974. Alcorn cites several reasons that will result in increase the consumption, which include 2% rise in fibre production in 1975, rising popularity among women to wear darker shades, and growth in transfer printing. Also mentioned are several problems that will be faced by dye producers and dyers, including rise in energy cost, and economic pressures induced by commissioned dyers by increasing labor cost.
