Introduction: Brushing, flossing, and getting regular dental cleans/dental checkups will help you to get a great looking smile, brighter whiter looking teeth, and fresh breath. They are an important part in preventing gum disease and reducing the risk of tooth loss and dental problems. Maintaining healthy teeth in adolescent age is very important. The main purpose of oral hygiene is to prevent the buildup of plaque. There is always a false belief that the people in rural areas lack proper awareness about the oral hygiene. The findings of this study tell us about the brushing habits among adolescents in rural areas (Kanchipuram district). Materials and Methods: A questionnaire-based study was conducted among the adolescents' age group in the district of Kanchipuram. It was attended by nearly 50 participants. The questionnaire contained 15 questions about the frequency of brushing, importance of brushing, and cleaning aids used for brushing. Results: All the results were statistically analyzed. 52% brush their teeth only once in a day, whereas 47% brush twice a day and <0.5% of the attendants brush more than twice in a day. Almost 85% of the participants believe that the way we brush our teeth has an impact on how healthy the teeth is and 12% do not believe in this concept. Conclusion: Maintenance of oral health is markedly enabled by tooth brushing. Cumulative analysis implies a need for the initiative of awareness on oral health at grass root levels with the cooperation of parents. The study has further thrust on awareness initiatives concerning oral health concomitant with parental participation.
