- Abstract
Tourism industry has been seen as catalyst of economic prosperity in India due to its contribution to national integration and preservation of natural as well as cultural environment and enrichments of social and cultural lives of the people along with increased national income and employment generation. The present study has analysed the performance of TFCI and concluded that during the period 2006-07 to 2010-11, profitability and solvency position of TFCI is good but liquidity position of TFCI shows inefficient cash management. TFCI has provided adequate sanctions and disbursement to various industries to develop tourist's spots in the different regions of the country. The paper suggested that in the present competitive scenario, it is essential that government should make aggressive promotional efforts for establishing infrastructure for tourism and financial support is to be extended to different states so that tourism potential can be fully realised in Indian economy.
