- Authors

- Abstract
Health disparities can negatively affect healthcare outcomes. Birth defects are a common complication, and although often genetic, certain birth defects like cleft lip and palate can be caused from or complicated by health disparity factors. Cleft birth defects can be caused by environmental factors, and environmental factors can further complicate treatment. It is necessary for healthcare workers to come together to address health disparities and seek solutions to better serve and improve outcomes for underserved and underrepresented communities.
