HEAD-IN-THE-CLOUDS: THE PUBLIC'S FAILURE TO RECOGNIZE HOW THE ANTI-COUNTERFEITING TRADE AGREEMENT PROTECTS THE GLOBAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MARKETPLACE ECONOMY IN THE DIGITIAL AGE.
- Authors
Rice, Nathaniel W.
- Abstract
The article discusses the public's reaction to the multi-national Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) as of September 2012, focusing on the public's reported inability to fully comprehend the power of ACTA to protect the global intellectual property (IP) marketplace economy in the digital age. It states that ACTA would harmonize IP rights internationally and provide a structure for the enforcement of international copyright laws. The U.S. Copyright Act of 1976 is also mentioned.
