- Abstract
A 52 years old male patient with a history of dyspnea for 2 years was admitted to hospital with acute respiratory failure, and his condition was stabilized after 14 days of corticosteroids treatment. He was referred to our hospital for diagnosis and treatment of the bilateral located cavitary lesions in his chest X-ray. Pulmonary suppuration was suspected and antimicrobial treatment was given, but his fever persisted so fiberoptic brochoscopy was performed. After obtaining a biopsy from his tracheal lesions, dyspnea and hoarseness developed and progressed. In his second bronchoscopy, subglottic mixed type tracheal stenosis was detected and a stent was applied to the tracheal stenosis of the patient. Leucocytoclastic vasculitis was observed in his biopsy specimens and Wegener granulomatosis, which was suspected due to clinical and radiological findings, was proved pathologically. C-ANCA and P-ANCA values were negative. This case was presented to emphasize the benefit of stenting for Wegener granulomatosis patients suffering from laryngotracheal obstruction.
