- Abstract
School dropout is a big problem in Brazilian education, although few studies published since 1980 have addressed the middle-level technical vocational education in the Federal Network of Vocational and Technological Education (RFEPT, Brazilian acronym). The school dropout was pointed out by the Federal Audit Court (TCU, Brazilian acronym) as a reality that needs to be studied because it has been worrying the RFEPT. This research is in the execution phase with the treatment and organization of categorized variables. This paper is the result of a scientific initiation project of the Goiano Federal Institute, Ceres Campus, in partnership with the Permanence and Success Commission. The study aimed to evaluate variables that may explain the factors of school dropout in technical courses integrated into high school on the Ceres Campus, whose population was 766 students enrolled in 2020. Results indicate which variables may be associated with school dropout from technical courses integrated into high school. Among them, the gender percentage, school in which the student completed elementary school, admission through wide competition, affirmative action, and what are the incentives to remain in the institution are highlighted.
