- Abstract
The article covers various topics in the field of teaching and research. It reports on the death of black feminist bell hooks and refers to obituaries in various newspapers. The Motherhood and Science Network is introduced, which provides mothers in academia with a forum for exchange and networking. The Network for Women's and Gender Studies in North Rhine-Westphalia has created guidelines on gender-inclusive language and sexual discrimination at universities. Various research projects are presented, including UniSAFE, which investigates gender-based violence at universities, and the collaborative project "Beyond the Glass Ceiling," which presents results on the equality of female professors. It also reports on the first doctoral college for intersectionality studies in Europe at the University of Bayreuth. Other topics include Dr. Lena Weber's leadership of CEWS, a podcast series on #MeToo in academia by the Marie Jahoda Center, and the increasing popularity of science podcasts. Finally, demands for gender-equitable university and science policies are presented in an open letter from the Federal Conference of Women's and Gender Equality Officers at Universities. It emphasizes that gender equality and diversity should be recognized as quality criteria and competitive factors in the scientific system.
