The article critics the motion picture "Flirt," by Hal Hartley. The film's disappointing aspects proves instructive when considering "Henry Fool," a film that overwhelms resignation. The film "Flirt" is divided into three episodes, each of which concerns the plight of the Flirt, who must commit either to a Departing Lover or to an Idea: flirtation as a way of life. Moreover, it examines similar situations in different contexts, with characters of different races, genders, and sexual orientation playing the Flirt.
