- Title
A Slice of Delirium: Scorsese's Taxi Driver Revisited.
- Authors
Quart, Leonard
- Abstract
The article tries to examine how film director Martin Scorsese describes the New York City in his film "Taxi Driver." It analyzes the genre of the film focusing on the director's description of the city. Scorsese's vision of the city is more complex, personal, and darkly radiant than most of the works of film noir. The film displays a genuine passion for a city which many people either recoil from or wish to make more equitable and just. However, Scorsese shows no shock or revulsion with what he sees, nor does he have any interest in providing an agenda for social reform.
