- Abstract
Children's literature is a type of literature that includes subjects that an individual can read from infancy to adulthood and that will attract attention. Considering that children's literature is used as a kind of educational material in preschool, child suitability is a very important requirement in children's literature. Especially in recent years, it is seen that the principle of appropriateness for children is ignored in most of the books, periodicals and cartoons included in the content of children's literature. The fact that the child does not encounter violent children's literature can be through the help of experts in the field of child development and pre-school educators, especially parents who pay attention to this issue. In this respect, the aim of the study is to examine the awareness of associate degree child development students about the language of violence in children's literature. In the study, the Violence Language Awareness Scale in Children's Literature developed by Turan and GerezTaşgın (2018) was used as a data collection tool. The study was carried out with child development students continuing their education at a Vocational School of a university. There was no statistically significant difference in the level of awareness of child development students about the language of violence in children's literature and their awareness according to gender and class level.
