- Abstract
The aim of this study is to resolve the relation between ideology and education in the context of critical theory. In this context, primarily the formation of the Frankfurt School and its historical process were explained. The ideological critique of the Frankfurt School was studied and the intellectual transformation of the Frankfurt School theorists about the concept of ideology in the process was given. The role of education in the transfer of ideology has been examined in the context of critical theory, emphasizing that education is an important transfer tool of ideology. The necessity of purifying the education from ideology was discussed. If education cannot be free of ideology it is suggested that pressure on "behavioral change" should be minimized.
