- Title
Neue Kriege?: Militär, Kriege und Konflikte seit 1990 – Die Bundeswehr in der doppelten Transformation.
- Authors
Hofbauer, Martin; Rink, Martin
- Abstract
The article deals with the German Armed Forces and Germany's foreign and security policy since the reunification around 1990. It discusses whether the new forms of warfare and threats that the Bundeswehr is facing are actually novel or have historical parallels. It emphasizes the need for a more comprehensive conceptual understanding of new wars and conflicts in order to analyze the developments of the last decades. The Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr (ZMSBw) has published numerous research findings on this topic and is working on further projects to close the research gap. Various research projects are presented that deal with topics such as cyberspace, military doctrines, the Bundeswehr's perception of war, and the mission in Afghanistan.
