- Authors
Kuntoš, Jaroslav
- Abstract
The article discusses a medieval Jewish signet ring discovered in the Republic Square of Prague, Czech Republic, in 2003. The author begins by describing the rescue archaeology operation conducted in the square that unearthed the ring and goes on to describe the ring's size, gold content, and a carving of Victoria, Roman goddess of victory, found on the ring. A Hebrew inscription found on the ring that provides its owner's name is explained as well. The author argues that the ring provides evidence of the success of Prague's early Jewish population.
