- Abstract
The lateral periodontal cyst (LPC) is an uncommon but well-recognized developmental cyst which is non-keratinized and non-inflammatory located adjacent or lateral to the roots of vital teeth. It usually occurs in the fifth to seventh decade of life and is more commonly located in the mandible. LPC can only be diagnosed histopathologically. The purpose of this article is to report an unusual and rare case of bilaterally symmetrical LPC’s in the mandible of a ten year old child. The role of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and a long term follow-up after enucleation for optimal healing has also been discussed.
