On "Ecological Protective Damage" of Traditional Settlements: A Case Study on the Protection of Jiufanggou Ancient Castle Fort.

- Abstract
Ecological environment and cultural heritage together constitute the most fundamental conditions for the survival of a nationality. If the damage is made to the environment, a nationality will lose physical territory that their people need for living. If the inheritance of cultural heritage is discontinued, a nationality will soon disappear in the course of history. Considering the worsening of the ecological environment and cultural heritage at present, this paper takes Jiufanggou Ancient Castle Fort in the Dabie Mountains as an example and studies the current status of building complex, which is under the protection of government, in the Jiufanggou Ancient Castle Fort by collecting a series of onsite mappings, surveys and relevant literature. The paper also analyzes the protection plans and related action already taken, assesses the implementation effect, and points out a series of clashes and problems existing in the process. In the last paragraph, some corresponding suggestions is put forward that will help to solve the problems, ease the clashes, and work out a better protection plan to meet the need of the protection of ancient architectures in Jiufanggou Ancient Castle Fort and the demand of future development.
