- Abstract
The article discusses the results from the CATCH-ON study on the maintenance of effects of physical education program in US. The sustainability of the Child and Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH) physical education intervention program is evaluated through observations in PE lessons in former CATCH schools. The physical activity levels of the students, lesson contexts, and training of PE teachers were analyzed. The research findings reveal that moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in CATCH schools were maintained after 5 years while postintervention gains in former control schools resulted in a convergence of activity levels in intervention and control schools.
