- Authors
Brown, G. W.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the clinical aspects of Scrub typhus, a febrile illness which is endemic in Australia and Asia. The causative agent is called Rickettsia tsutsugamushi which is transmitted by chiggers of different species of trombiculid mites. The symptoms include dusky red maculopapular rash and dry scab marking the site of the infecting bite. Furthermore, a single dose of doxycycline is an effective treatment alternative to the standard seven-day course of tetracycline.
