- Title
Periodontal litigation and the dental hygienist.
- Authors
Mitchell, Michelle
- Abstract
The article focuses on the possibilities of legal action against hygienists in Great Britain and how to avoid periodontal litigation. It mentions that the hygienists may be held accountable for the acts they commit including lack of observation and inadequate documentation. It says that recording the areas of bleeding on probing with pocket depths is sufficient to avoid litigation. Moreover, informing the patient of the hygienists' role in controlling the periodontal disease is also vital.
