- Title
To Veil or not to Veil-Muslim Women and the face veil.
- Abstract
The article talks about the tradition of Muslim women and wearing veils in Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Ahmed al-Ghamdi, head of the Makkah branch of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, gave his views on gender mixing. He believes that Islam orders a woman to cover her body to allow her to participate in social life, not to prevent her from doing so. Princess Adela bint Abdullah, King Abdullah's daughter, sees a need to increase women's participation in the labour market.
