Abstract
The article highlights some federal tax developments in Australia that have occurred during July 2013. The Australian Department of Treasury announced a tightening of the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) rules relating to cars as part of the package terminating the carbon tax from July 1, 2014. The Hunger Project Australia was declared by court as a public benevolent institution for the purposes of section 57A of the BFT Assessment Act 1986.
