Title
School science - could do better.
Abstract
The author looks at research on the quality of practical education in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in Great Britain. He notes that practical instruction often focuses more on following directions than comprehension of concepts and procedures. He argues that teacher evaluation of students' practical skills can be included in written examinations or given as separate certifications.
