The article discusses a debate regarding the use of fungicides to control a fungal disease of ash trees in Great Britain, called ash dieback disease, caused by Chalara fraxinea. Topics include why a large scale fungicide application is not possible, collaborative research by the company Natural Ecology Mitigation with Imperial College London, England, to formulate a fungicide containing copper sulphate, and the lack of an effective fungicide for Chalara.
