- Abstract
The article discusses the approach of British Energy Group PLC to the second programme of Periodic Safety Review (PSR) of its seven Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) in Great Britain. It says that the aim of the PSR is to evaluate the nuclear safety of all the NPPs of the company and to underwrite safe operation of the plant. It focuses on the applicability of the PSR to the regulatory regime of Great Britain, its operation standards and methodologies, and the timetable and activities of the PSR. It reveals the five headings of the PSR work, the aim of the consolidation process, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standard for PSR. It also discusses the management and organization of the project and the assessment of the regulators.
