- Abstract
Objective: Evaluate Guy's score to predict stone free rate. Material and Methods: Analysis of a historical cohort of patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), which had studies to allow classification of the Guy's score. Outcome was defined as stone-free rate. Secondarily we evaluated the presence of complications using modified Clavien's score. Results: A total of 104 PCNLs were performed. The distribution of cases using the Guy's score were classified as Grade 1: 30.8%, grade 2: 26%, grade 3: 22.1% and grade 4: 21.2%. The stone-free rate was: grade 1: 81% (26/32); grade 2: 66% (18/27); grade 3: 56% (13/23) and grade 4: 18.1% (4/22). The overall complication rate was 33%, Clavien 1: 14.4%, 2: 9.6%, 3A: 2.9%, 3B: 2.9% 4:1.9%, 5:1%. Conclusion: Guy's score has limitations in predicting the stone-free rate, it splits the population into two groups, with two intermediate groups with scarce discrimination of the surgical success.
