Khan, Sultan; Maharaj, Brij
- Abstract
The article focuses on the reconstruction, planning and development of the apartheid cities specifically the Cato Manor in Durban, South Africa. It mentions that the urban renewal aims to generate and bring forth opportunities particularly for employment, to provide urban and housing amenities, and to promote the use of vacant and underutilized land. It states that the failure of the urban renewal will act as a barrier to the city to achieve and gain opportunities as well as sustainability.
