The article provides information on the history of the Pinguicula crystallina Sm. The tiny carnivorous herb was discovered on May 1, 1787 by John Sibthorp and Ferdinand Bauer in the Troodos mountains of Cyprus. It became known to the scientific botanical community in 1806 with the publications of the "Florae Graecae Prodromus" and "Flora Graeca."
