- Title
Entfernung von Ölverschmutzungen in Gewässern durch Textilien: Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) der RWTH Aachen University Aachen Universität Bonn Bonn Heimbach GmbH Düren.
- Abstract
Researchers from the Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University, the University of Bonn, and Heimbach GmbH have developed a new method to remove oil pollution from bodies of water in an energy-efficient and cost-effective way. This involves integrating a technical textile into a floating container, which can remove up to 4 liters of diesel per hour. The textile is based on the structure and functionality of living organisms and allows for the separation of oil and water. The innovative oil separation device, called the bionic oil adsorber (BOA), does not require additional energy and is environmentally friendly. The BOA device offers a cost-effective and sustainable method for oil-water separation and can be reused multiple times. It is expected to be available on the market in 2-3 years.
