- Title
Product for the reinforcement of soft soils.
- Abstract
The article reports on the launch of a geogrid production line by Polyfelt GmbH in Bezons, France in autumn 2003. Geogrids are geosynthetics used in the reinforcement of slopes, foundations, bridge abutments, railway tracks, and many other structures to increase the bearing capacity of the soil, and thus improve structural stability. The use of geogrids enables very reliable and cost-effective construction, and this has led to increasing demand for such products in recent years. In the Polyfelt production line, Geogrids with optimum properties are produced using an improved warp-knitting technology. The new products, designated polyfelt.Rock GX, supplement and partly replace the old polyfelt.Rock G product range. Like its predecessor, this geogrid is made of high strength polyester yarns with a polymeric coating. The new grid offers improved product stability, and is suitable for almost all geotechnical applications. Its open structure and surface roughness guarantee optimum interlock with the soil. Due to its flexibility, the geogrid is easy to install. Polyfelt.Rock GX was specially developed for the reinforcement of base courses of roads and railway tracks. Additionally, it is well suited to all kinds of reinforced soil structures.
