- Abstract
The extraction of vanadium from low-grade stone coal vanadium ore through direct acid leaching poses a significant challenge in terms of achieving high efficiency. To address this issue, a hydrometallurgical process has been developed for the effective recovery of vanadium from stone coal. In this process, vanadium primarily exists in the form of muscovite. The present study investigates the leaching process of vanadium from stone coal by employing sodium fluorosilicate and sodium chlorate as additives. The leaching behavior and kinetics of vanadium from stone coal are examined under varying temperatures, and the underlying leaching mechanism is discussed. The synergistic mechanism of sodium fluorosilicate and sodium chlorate in the extraction of vanadium from stone coal is investigated through leaching tests, kinetic analysis, vanadium valence analysis, XRD, and SEM + EDS. Through the utilization of leaching tests and a range of detection and analysis techniques, it has been determined that the introduction of sodium fluorosilicate and sodium chlorate into the acid leaching system can expedite the dissolution of vanadium mica and the oxidation of vanadium. Consequently, this approach enables the achievement of highly efficient vanadium leaching. The findings of this study offer valuable insights into optimizing the extraction of vanadium from stone coal.
