Modernity in Márquez and Feminism in Ousmane.
- Authors
Ramanathan, Geetha
- Abstract
Presents literary criticism of the books "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez and "God's Bits of Wood" by Sembène Ousmane. The author examines the themes of modernity and femininity in the books, suggesting that while Márquez uses signs of modernity as a metaphor for fantasy and delusion, Ousmane offers a realist and feminist take on modernity, which enables the inclusion of women.
