The article presents the author's reflections asserting the importance of contemporary art within the collections and exhibits of general fine arts establishments. It is suggested that while the broad appeal for modern art may not be as strong as other elements of general museum exhibitions, its significance in gauging social and cultural movement is essential to the field.
