- Abstract
A nano-motion actuator has been developed to achieve precise track following for magnetic recording. To enhance the controllability of the actuator, damping is one of important factors. We present finite element formulation for damping analysis in structural system and apply to access dynamic response of the actuator. Viscoelastic material used as damping is characterized by means of fractional derivative. Effect of viscoelastic damping on the frequency response of the nano-motion actuator is demonstrated.
