- Authors
Carmeliet, Tine
- Abstract
The healthcare sector is currently lacking in technological innovation, with outdated systems and limited tools for communication and patient data tracking. However, there has been an increase in investments by tech companies in the healthcare sector due to consumer demand for innovative treatments and user-friendly tools. Tech giants like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft already have a range of digital health products and services on the market, including AI-driven diagnostics, telehealth consultations, and wearable devices. However, navigating the complex legal and regulatory systems in the healthcare sector poses challenges for these innovative solutions. The extent to which technology will revolutionize healthcare will depend on how well tech companies can navigate these regulations and the legal risks involved. This series will address the legal issues related to placing digital health products on the market and delivering healthcare services in the EU, including regulatory hurdles, data protection, cybersecurity, liability, reimbursement, and intellectual property.
