- Abstract
With the increase of sulfur content in raw materials, sulfur corrosion in the secondary processing unit of refining is becoming more and more serious. The types of corrosion that has a great effect on the device are mainly low temperature wet hydrogen sulfide corrosion, high temperature sulfur corrosion and high temperature naphthenic acid corrosion. High temperature sulfur corrosion can be prevented by material upgrading, which is relatively easy to manage; while low temperature wet hydrogen sulfide corrosion has a wide range of influence and complex mechanism, which is difficult to control. According to the on-site operation of delayed coking unit, material balance and sulfur balance data were obtained. The entire process included fractionation system, compressor system, and absorption-stabilization system was simulated by PRO/II software; sulfur content of all intermediate materials was predicted and sulfur distribution diagram of the whole process was created. The types and locations of corrosion that had a significant impact on device were introduced. Based on the sulfur distribution diagram, the temperature and sulfur content of these corrosion locations were systematically summarized, which provided a theoretical basis for daily monitoring of sulfur corrosion and anti-corrosion renovation of the unit, and ensured long-term stable operation of the plant.
