- Abstract
Generally speaking, all parts of speech present an important role in learning a language. Also, every part of speech has a particular function in terms of morphology; syntax and semantics in English or any other language. Especially, they should be approached properly while learning a language and by doing so, the foreign speakers can avoid mistakes and build skills in using English proficiently. This actual study aims to investigate the proper use of conjunctions at syntactic level of classification in English and Albanian and at the same time, to discuss the differences and similarities that coordinating conjunctions share in terms of punctuation. Purposely, this study will also shed light into identifying the position of comma in coordinating clauses in English and Albanian. The conclusions drawn from this linguistic study will help teachers to approach conjunctions adequately among EFL learners. On the other hand, identifying the coordinating conjunctions in English and comparing them to conjunctions in Albanian and at the same time, recognizing the punctuation rules in terms of coordinating conjunctions in English and Albanian will enable the foreign students to eliminate negative language transfer and use conjunctions properly in context.
