- Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of risedronate combined with PFNA for intertrochanteric fracture in senile patients. Methods Totally 108 senile intertrochanteric fracture patients with confirmed diagnosis from 2014 to 2016 were randomized into two groups: study group(n = 53) and control group(n = 55). Study group used risedronate combined with PFNA and control group used PFNA and placebo. The surgical time, blood loss, hospitalization time, healing time, bone mineral density(BMD), Harris hip score and visual analogue scale(VAS) of the two groups were recorded. Results There was no significant difference in the surgical time and blood loss between the two groups(P 0.05); the hospitalization time [(14. 31 ± 2. 24) d vs.(16. 75 ± 3. 12) d, P = 0.022]and healing time[(4. 10 ± 2. 67) months vs.(5. 24 ± 2. 43) months, P = 0.028]in study group were shorter than those of control group. No significant difference was detected between the two groups in Harris hip score(P 0.05). VAS scores at 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks were reduced in both groups; there was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups at 1 d and 1, 2 and 4 weeks after operation(P 0.05). After treatment, BMD were increased in both groups(P 0.05), and it was higher in study group than in control group after 6 months(-2. 68 ± 0.63 vs.-2. 91 ± 0.58, P =0.034) and final follow-up(-2. 37 ± 0.50 vs.-2. 84 ± 0.66, P 0.05). Conclusion Compared to the simple PFNA treatment, risedronate combined with PFNA is more effective on intertrochanteric fracture in senile patients, which has high value in clinical application.
