- Abstract
Is knowledge justified true belief or usable information? Does the development of technology improve society in the field of knowledge? This paper considers the definitions of knowledge given by Plato and contemporary theoretician Kieron O'Hara. In the light of their opposed theories we are looking for the answer to the following question: can organizations possess knowledge? Owing to the development of computers and the Internet, it is possible to record the knowledge of one person and transmit it to somebody else. Considering that many organizations use computers as a work tool and communicate via the Internet, does it mean that organizations possess knowledge? We claim they do not. The paper criticizes knowledge society and some of its manifestations, such as general knowledge quiz shows on TV, referring to Liessmann's theory of miseducation.
