- Abstract
The article examines the social and ecological dimensions associated with the use and invasion of Euryops floribundus in the Macubeni area, South Africa. Woody plant invasions can result to significant degradation and economic costs. Invasion of Euryops is perceived to have reduced the grazing available for domestic livestock. The study shows that density of grass culms is unaffected although the grass cover is lower in the invaded areas. The potential for seed set by desirable grasses in the invaded areas would be higher than in the open grasslands.
