- Abstract
The article reports that Narcissus alkaloids were discovered from different varieties of daffodils in Great Britain. It states that one of Narcissus varieties, galanthamine has been approved as a treatment of early state and moderate Alzheimer's dementia. It says that breeding programmes are in progress to develop daffodil varieties and to investigate their biochemical composition. Moreover, commercial expansion of daffodil production is also planned for the development of other alkaloids.
