- Title
Hatching crocodiles filmed for first time.
- Abstract
This article reports that four critically endangered Orinoco crocodiles have been filmed for the first time hatching in an incubator at Dallas World Aquarium. It mentions that it was the first time that a hatching event has been captured on film. It discusses that Orinoco crocodiles have been hunted to near extinction because of their black-spotted hide, and the pair found in Dallas is the only breeding pair in North America. Because of the risk of predation by piranhas that share the adults' enclosure, the baby crocodiles are being reared away from their parents.
