- Authors
Cole, Ian B.; Balick, Michael J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the effect lunar cycles may have on medicinal plants. The author reviews how many ancient cultures considered lunar phases when determining when to plant and harvest crops. Modern Scientists have found that the moon has potential effects on seed germination rates in plants such as Rhamnaceae and some trees have been shown to shrink and swell based on the tides. Lunar phases may impact levels of bioactivity in plants by influencing the levels of certain chemical compounds.
