- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the effectiveness of the herbal product Ginkgo biloba in slowing the rates of global or domain-specific cognitive decline in older adults. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted in six academic medical centers across the U.S. involving 3,069 community-dwelling participants aged 72 to 96 years. The researchers found that the herbal product, 120 milligrams twice daily, did not result in less cognitive decline in older adults with normal or mild cognitive impairment.
