- Abstract
The export literature has often used the resource based view of the firm. However, it has overlooked two main resources that are likely to influence export intensity: status and international reputation. Findings from a study in the Bordeaux wine industry show that a high status and a good international reputation both increase export intensity. They also show that the relationship between international reputation and export intensity is stronger for lower-status firms than for higher-status firms.
